I have been photographing weddings in the Washington region for almost a decade. After graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photojournalism in 1998, I began work as a photojournalist.
I never wanted to be a typical wedding photographer. However, when I discovered that people were interested in hiring a photojournalist to document their wedding - to tell the story of the beginning of their marriage - I found my niche, jumped in and never looked back.
I have been photographing weddings since 1999, and I have been photographing orthodox and modern orthodox weddings since 2002.
When I photographed my first orthodox wedding, I did not know what a tisch was, or why I could not photograph yichud. Since then, I have learned the different narratives happening all around me, with chapter names like tisch, bedecken, chuppah and sheva berachot.
I understand that different families have different hashkofot. I pride myself on respecting and accommodating the individual needs of the chosson, kallah and their families. I will have a second photographer if it is necessary to handle weddings where many events run concurrently and dancing is divided by a mechitzah.
My knowledge and experience enables me to anticipate where I need to be to document your wedding comprehensively.
I have the background and knowledge regarding the important details and moments in an orthodox wedding, and will know what questions to ask at the appropriate times.
With me, you get a documentary approach that includes natural, candid moments that illustrate the true emotion of the day and portraits, instead of the traditional table shots and staged dancing photos.
